17 Civilians Killed this Year in Forces Firing in Shopian

August 11 As many as fourteen civilians have been killed in the firing of Government Forces in Shopian district alone. As per figures available to The Kashmiriyat Shopian District has been the worst hit, the district witnessed four civilian killings on a single day on March 4 at Pehnoo area. On 27 January, two civilians namely Javaid Ahmed and Suhail Ahmed were killed by government forces when army fired on a group of protesters at Ganopora area in Shopian. Later one more among the injured namely Rayees Ahmed a 19 year old youth also succumbed to his injuries at skims on January 31. August 10 Though the Government Forces have been escalating Anti Militancy operation and making appeals to youth to move away from Militancy. However these growing encounters two more youth from South Kashmir district of Pulwama have joined the Militant ranks. 4 Army men Including Major Killed in North Kashmir Encounter

 August 07 An Indian Army Major and three soldiers were killed in a gunfight with Militant in Gurez Sector along the Line of Control in North Kashmir's Bandipora District. Reports suggest that Army intercepted a group of eight infiltrators who were trying to cross from Gurez in north Kashmir. The infiltration bid was foiled and two Militants have also been shot dead, they said. August 01 Militants on Wednesday fired upon 34 RR of Indian Army in Chak e Cholan of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Militants fired upon a party of Indian Army when they laid a cordon and search operation in the village. The Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police were laying a CASO around the village when Militants fired upon the Forces and fled from the spot. Slain CRPF Man from Pulwama was Sole Bread earner of his family

July 31 Naseer Ahmed Rather son of wali Mohammad Rather resident of Naira village of Pulwama district who was killed by unknown gunmen on Sunday evening near his house was lone bread earner of his family. Naseer who was posted with CRPF 182 bn in Pulwama, was transfered to Sanath Nagar and was about to join there after two days. A group of four unknown gunmen barged into our house and asked Naseer to come out with us however within few minutes he was fired upon, one of his family member told The Kashmiriyat. July 28 A youth namely Ishfaq Ahmad wani son of late Mohammad yousuf wani resident of Koil village of Pulwama district is missing from last seven days and his family is afraid that he might have joined militant ranks. 581 Militants Killed Since 2015

July 25 The Government forces have killed 581 militants since 2015 while 69 personnel died in ceasefire violations along the LoC and the India-Pakistan border in Jammu Kashmir, Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre told the Lok Sabha today. In 2015, 108 militants were killed by security forces followed by 150 in 2016, 213 in 2017 and 110 in 2018 (up to July 22) along the Line of Control (LoC), Bhamre said in a written response to a question in the Lower House. He said 44 personnel of the Army and 25 of the Border Security Force (BSF) were killed in ceasefire violations since 2015. The LoC and the India-Pakistan border in Jammu Kashmir have been volatile.
