17 Civilians Killed this Year in Forces Firing in Shopian

August 11 As many as fourteen civilians have been killed in the firing of Government Forces in Shopian district alone. As per figures available to The Kashmiriyat Shopian District has been the worst hit, the district witnessed four civilian killings on a single day on March 4 at Pehnoo area. On 27 January, two civilians namely Javaid Ahmed and Suhail Ahmed were killed by government forces when army fired on a group of protesters at Ganopora area in Shopian. Later one more among the injured namely Rayees Ahmed a 19 year old youth also succumbed to his injuries at skims on January 31. Militancy Growing Swiftly- Two More Youth From Pulwama Join Lashkar e Taiba

August 10 Though the Government Forces have been escalating Anti Militancy operation and making appeals to youth to move away from Militancy. However these growing encounters two more youth from South Kashmir district of Pulwama have joined the Militant ranks. July 25 Two Militants have been killed in the encounter between Militants and Government Forces at Kotwal Gali in Lal Chowk area of South Kashmir's Islamabad township. July 18 Several students of Sirajul uloom Higher secondary school Hillow Imam sahib were ruthlessly beaten by local army unit of 34RR located at Woyen imam Sahib, locals alleged.
