Suhail Dar Officials on Friday sealed 39 shops, which were constructed by Local Auqaf, in south Kashmir's Tehsil Bijbehara. Reports reaching The Kashmiriyat said that a team led by revenue officials sealed thirty-nine shops in the Kanelwan area of Bijbehara. The shops were constructed by the local Auqaf committee of Kanelwan and the rent of the shops was used for the Mosque along with other relief works for the local population. Locals said that the rent money was being used for the welfare of the general public. The administration claimed that they were constructed on state land. In the ongoing state land eviction drives launched across Kashmir and Jammu, the official figures from Bandipora have revealed that less than 2 percent of the total land retrieved was encroached on by the "influential." In a press release, The District Administration Bandipora said that it has retrieved around 33000 Kanals of encroached land through intensified anti-encroachment drives.
