
In a swift response to a concerning report, the Railway Police wing of the Jammu Kashmir Police (JKP) acted decisively to apprehend an individual caught performing a reckless stunt atop a moving train, reads an official statement received here.
“The incident, which posed an imminent threat to the individual’s life, came to the attention of authorities through timely information received by the Railway Police. The daring act was halted when law enforcement intercepted the individual at the next station,” the statement reads.
“The person has been identified as a student Arafat Ashiq Mir (18) son of Ashiq Hussain Mir, a resident of Booch Hamrey.
Appropriate legal proceedings have been initiated against him for endangering his own safety and potentially that of others.”
“Authorities have since issued a stern advisory, urging the public—particularly the youth—to abstain from engaging in such perilous and thoughtless activities,” reads the statement, as per news agency Kashmir Bulletin.
A spokesperson for the Railway Police in the meantime emphasized, “Such stunts not only jeopardize human lives but also disrupt public safety. Strict action under the law will be enforced against violators to deter such behavior in the future.”
“This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of responsible conduct, especially in environments as unforgiving as a moving train. The Railway Police remain vigilant, committed to upholding safety and order on the rails,” the official said further. (KB)
