Thieves rob gold saved by father for Daughter’s Wedding; Angry residents stage protest in Redwani, Kulgam

The residents of the Redwani area in Kulgam are suffering for the last year due to unending incidents of robbery.

“From the last one year, there have been several robberies in our neighborhood, which we had taken for granted. Now for the last one week (4-5 days probably), Another robbery took place in our neighborhood, in which gold and cash worth lakhs were stolen from the house of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat Son of Haji Ghulam Hassan Bhat, a local resident,” a village elder told The Kashmiriyat.

He said that Manzoor is a poor factory worker and the gold belonged to his daughter. “He had saved the gold for the wedding of his daughter,” the local said.

The same incident took place in the house of Mohd. Ashraf Bhat, where Gold and Cash worth 4-5 Lakhs were stolen, at around 12:00 – 12:30 AM.

“A few days after, the same incident happened with the same family. The thieves stole clothes of his daughters & daughter-in-law and stole the remaining gold and carpets also”, said Abdul Salam Bhat, a local resident.

Meanwhile, all the citizens of the area appealed to the local Police to look after this matter and take immediate action or allow them to conduct night patrolling in the area in order to ensure the safety of their possessions.
