Three leaders of a Srinagar-based pro-establishment group, Awami Awaaz Party have been detained in Srinagar for “anti national” byte during a press conference along with other charges.
Its president Suhail Khan along with two other leaders Nadeem Shafi Rather and Umer Majeed during a press conference on Wednesday had accused top brass officials and bureaucrats of corruption during the ongoing anti-eviction drive in Jammu Kashmir.
They also said that most of the journalists in Kashmir do not carry forward the voices of the truth. “Those who tell the facts are harassed by one or the other means,” the party president had said.
Pertinently, Awami Awaaz Party is planning to contest for the Jammu Kashmir assembly, whenever elections are held.
“Three miscreants namely Suhail Khan, Nadeem Shafi Rather & Umar Majeed Wani arrested. They were self-styled leaders and had threatened & intimidated media persons, giving anti-national byte yesterday in a press conference. FIR no 05/2023 in relevant sections registered in Kothibagh PS,” Police said in a tweet.
