Three TRF militant associates arrested in Baramulla: Police

The security forces on Sunday claimed to have arrested three TRF militant associates in the Kalgai area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.

In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a police spokesperson said that on November 25, during joint Naka checking and patrolling security forces intercepted two suspected persons coming from Kamalkote towards the national highway carrying bags who were identified as Zameer Ahmad Khanday son of Azeem Khanday and Mohammad Naseem Khanday son of Abdul Majeed Khanday – both resident of Kamalkote.

The statement reads that during the search, 3 Chinese grenades, and 2.5 lakh cash were recovered from them, following which a case FIR under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Uri.

It reads that during sustained questioning the accused disclosed that these illegally acquired grenades and cash had been provided to them by one Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti son of Karam Din Bhatti resident of Madiyan Kamalkote so that they could execute any militant act.

“Following the disclosure, Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti was picked up for questioning, and upon due course of action, Bhatti disclosed that he has supplied these illegally acquired grenades and cash to these persons for the commission of militant acts and has also kept one hand grenade and cash at a location known to him near his house,” it reads.

It added that his disclosure also led to recovery of 1 Chinese hand grenade and 2.17 lakh cash, while further investigation is going on—(KNO)
