To “Grow Patriotism” Among People, Shiv Sena Demands Hoisiting of 100-Feet-Tall Tricolour in Lal Chowk, Other Historical Sites

The Shiv Sena has demanded that a 100-feet high tricolor shall be installed at Lal Chowk and Mubarak Mandi or Bagh-e Bahu, the historical sites of Jammu Kashmir.

The state unit of Shiv Sena has written to the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to raise the demand.

Manish Sawhney of Shiv Sena, During the press conference at the party office in Jammu demanded completion of this work before 15 August.

“Politics has been going on for decades over Lal Chowk and the national flag. The permanent hoisting of the tricolor at this historic site will put a complete halt to politics over the issue, which will be a true tribute to the soldiers of the security forces in Kashmir on Independence Day,” he said, adding, “With this, the feeling of patriotism will grow among the people of Jammu Kashmir.”

Pertinently the Indian tricolour was unfurled on the ocassion of the 75th Independence Day celebrations at a height of 100 feet on the Koh e maraan Mountain in Srinagar.

The Indian Army also hoisted a 100-metre-high flag  at the famous tourist destination of the valley, Gulmarg.
