
Two militants including a top commander, who was active since 2015, have been killed in an encounter in Chensar area of Czawalgam area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam on Friday morning.
A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that forces including 9 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF had launched cordon and search operation in the area on Thursday following inputs about Militant presence in the area.
The encounter started when Militants opened fire upon forces, the official had said. “One Militant was killed in the encounter that followed,” he had said.
Later in the night, the encounter was suspended due to the darkness, however, search lights were installed to not give a chance to Militants to escape from the site.
“With the first light, the operation was resumed by the forces resulting the killing of second militant, while as the search operation is on in the area”, an official said, as per news agency KNO.
Locals meanwhile told The Kashmiriyat that massive blasts were heard in the area since 5:45 AM. They also said that many houses have received damage during the encounter.
As per sources, Sheeraz Ahmed Lone alias Molvi is among the slain Militants. Sheera, a top commander of Lashkar e Taiba, who was a resident of Shouch area in Kulgam had joined the outfit in 2015
