‘Tourism money is used for terrorism’: Kashmiri businessman demands apology from Anand Ranganathan

Mushtaq Chaya, Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Hoteliers Club, strongly objected on Saturday to derogatory comments made about Kashmir tourism by Indian right-wing commentator Anand Ranganathan.

He said that the people of Kashmir use the money we spend on tourism in the valley is spent by the people of the Kashmir valley on terrorism.

“All this money in millions or perhaps billions that were minted out of 16 million tourists going there is all mostly going to terrorists,” Anand Ranganathan had said in a podcast on ANI while seeking an Israel-like strategy in Kashmir.

Mushtaq Chaya, condemning the statement highlighted the valley’s increasing tourist arrivals, attracted by its breathtaking natural beauty.  “We are witnessing a significant rise in tourists who are captivated by Kashmir’s natural allure,” Chaya stated.

“I vehemently oppose the disparaging comments about Kashmir tourism. The valley is experiencing an increase in tourist arrivals due to its natural beauty. I urge authorities to take action against those responsible. Kashmir is peaceful, and I hope this tranquility continues,” he added.
