Three Militants have been killed in a fierce encounter that started Thursday morning between Government Forces and Local Militants in Gulshanpora area of Tral.
An official speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that a group of Militants hiding in the area opened fire upon a joint party of Government Forces in the area which resulted in an encounter.
Earlier, he said, forces had, based on a credible input about Militant movement in the area, launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
The Operation was jointly conducted by 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu Kashmir Police, he told.
During the intermittent firing of almost six hours, three Government Force personnel suffered injuries, out of which one succumbed to his injuries and three Militants were also killed.
As soon as the news of the encounter spread in the nearby areas, hundreds of people poured onto the streets raining stones on Government Forces, who responded with intense tear smoke shelling.
In the action of the forces, at least a dozen persons were injured in areas adjoining Gulshanpora, Sources told The Kashmiriyat.
Mobile internet services were snapped down in the area as a ‘precautionary’ measure to avoid any ‘Law and order situation’
As per initial reports, the slain Militants are locals and are affiliated to Hizb ul Mujahideen.
