Twitter authorities have sent a notice to Indian muslim Journalist Rana Ayyub stating that her account has been ‘Withheld’ in India.
On Sunday, Rana Ayyub posted the notice on Twitter stating that her account has been ‘withheld’ in India under the Information Technology Act of 2000.

Surprised, Rana Ayyub wrote on Twitter, ‘Hello @Twitter, what is it?’
The notice posted by Ayyub on Twitter reads, “Twitter is bound to abide by local laws in India. Therefore, the account mentioned under the country’s Information Technology Act, 2000 is being ‘withheld’ in India. However, the post on this account can be seen elsewhere.”
“We protect and respect the statements of those who use Twitter. It is our policy to notify account holders if there is a request from a recognized organization (such as law enforcement or a government agency) to remove a post from an account. We give users notice, whether they live in the country from which the request came,” the notice read.
