Two local militants have been killed in a gunfight in Rainawari area of Srinagar district in central Kashmir, officials said Wednesday.
The Police also said that one of slain carried a press ID card. In a tweet Jammu Kashmir Police said, “One of the killed categorised local #terrorists of proscribed #terror outfit LeT was carrying Identity Card (ID) of media. It indicates a clear case of misuse of media: IGP Kashmir.”

Officials said that a encounter raged in the Surtain area of Rainawari when militants opened fire upon Government forces who had laid a cordon and search operation in the area following an input about militant movement in the area.
“During the subsequent exchange of gunfire, two militants were killed,” they said.
The identity of the duo is being ascertain, as per the officials who added, “Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition has been recovered from the possession of the slain.”
