
Two persons were injured in two separate incidents of bear attacks in twin villages of the Kangan area here in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday.
Reports said that 70-year-old Ghulam Ahmed Sheikh S/O Mohd Sediq Sheikh R/O Check Akhal was seriously injured by a bear near his house this afternoon.
He was rescued by locals and was rushed to Sub-District Hospital Kangan wherefrom he was referred to SKIMS Soura.
In another incident at the same time, 53-year old woman Mukhti Begum W/O Mohd Subhan Lone was also attacked at Gounchi Mohalla Akhal just a few meters from the previous spot.
Locals brought the woman in a pool of blood at Sub-District Hospital Kangan.
They said they have seen three bears in daylight which is alarming as hundreds of people walk on this road especially children, females, and elderly persons.
Meanwhile, a Team of Wildlife rushed to the area.
