The Government forces on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two “uncategorized” militants in the north Kashmir’s Sopore area.
In a press release, Indian Army said, Keeping in view the dispatch of first batch of pilgrims for Amarnath Yathra, austere mobile check post was established on various places all along Sopore-Bandipura highway and Sopore-Kupwara Highway.
“Today at around 1830 hrs, based on the specific information regarding movement of 2 suspected individuals joint parties of Police, 22 RR and 179 CRPF Bn were conducting Naka checking at various locations on Sopore Bandipura Highway. During checking of vehicles at around 2040hr the Naka party observed 2 persons moving suspiciously towards Sopore. The Naka party observed their suspicious body language and asked them to stop. However, the individuals tried to flee from the spot,” the press release read.
The party assessed the situation and displayed extreme restraint and fire control in not opening fire. The individuals was tactfully apprehended by the naka party.
On carrying out spot interrogation the individuals disclosed that they were tasked to further move towards Kangan and cause disruption in the Amarnath Yatra. The duo was identified as Adnan Ashiq War S/o Ashiq war R/o Warpura and Zubair Ahmad Sofi S/o Abdul Ahad R/o Fategarh Sheeri, Baramulla
On personal search, the following arms/ ammunition were recovered and seized which included 2 Pistols, 2 Pistol Magazines and 14 rounds.
