Two militants have been killed during the ongoing encounter that broke out between militants and government forces in the Tangpawa area Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Earlier officials told The Kashmiriyat that on Sunday late evening 19 RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint launched a cordon and search operation in the Tangpawa area of Kokernag.
During the cordon, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
During the exchange of gunfire, two unidentified militant were killed, they said
Locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that a search operation is going on at the encounter site.
Pertinently Tangpawa is the native of the slain Hizb commander Mohammed Ashraf Khan alias Ash Molvi who was killed during an encounter with Government forces earlier this year.
