Two years on, KU’s Kupwara campus yet to start academic session

The Kashmir university authorities have failed to start the academic session at Kupwara Campus even after two years.

Irony is that administration has again announced admission without any communication with the aspirants who had already applied.

Reports reaching to Kashmir News Service (KNS), said that in 2020 the KU Campus Kupwara had announced academic session for integrated programmes in Physics and Energy Studies for which they also invited applications from students, however even after two years the campus is yet to announce the entrance test.

Speaking to KNS, student’s said, “we have applied last year, but campus is yet to announce selection list. Irony is campus has again invited applications without announcing previous selection list, putting our career in limbo, he said.

Another student, Dawood Ahmad said that we are confused whether we move to some other institution for admission or wait for them, as we have already lost more than a year, he added.

Speaking to KNS, Director KU North Campus Parvez Ahmed said, “when we announced first academic session, we got poor response from students, following by Covid shutdown, our process got bit delayed as our campus was designated covid19 center by Kupwara administration.

However he assured to organise entrance test by the end of this month. “We have built good infrastructure and our classrooms are ready for accept students for classwork. We have received around Rs 2cr seed money, of which we have received first instalment of around Rs 89 lacs,.” he said.

Everything has been set up – furniture, computers, and other facilities. By September we would be in position to start the classes, he added. (KNS)
