Under Construction Hospital Building Used as Hideout by Drug Addicts in Nuner Ganderbal

An under-construction hospital building has been turned into drug addicts’ hideout in Nuner area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The construction work on this hospital building in the Nuner area of ​​Ganderbal district in central Kashmir has been halted due to a lack of funds, according to locals, leaving the building in a state of despair.

Despite spending millions of rupees on the building, it is not being completed, due to which not only is the building getting dilapidated, but now it has become hub for drug addicts.

“Young people come here to the building, from various areas and engage in illegal and immoral activities,” locals told The Kashmiriyat. The building is littered with playing cards, cigarettes and syringes, which clearly show the nature of activities carried out in the building.

He said that in order to meet the medical needs of Nunar and adjoining areas, the administration had started the construction work of the hospital building, but it was abruptly stopped due to unknown reasons.

The locals while expressing concern said that the noncompletetion of the building is a waste of public money and that the building was instead used for immoral illegal activities.

“The local population, especially the children, find it difficult to get out of the house. Parents are not able to allow their children to leave the house because they fear that their children may also develop bad habits,” he said.

Local residents claimed that they had made several requests to the concerned authorities to complete the building, but “the authorities are not touching it.”

“We don’t need a hospital anymore, the building should be fenced off so that it cannot be used for wrongdoings,” he quipped.
