
Veteran actor and Hindi film director, Naseeruddin Shah has expressed regret over the current status of the Indian cinema stating he was surprised to see films like ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘Gadar 2’ becoming hits.
Shah who is making a comeback in direction after 17 years with the film ‘Man Woman, Man Woman’ was speaking to Free Press Journal when he spoke on wide ranging issues including the current scenario of the Indian film industry.
Naseeruddin Shah said, “The more nationalist you are, the more famous you will be. Because such people are running the country. Loving your country is no longer enough. You have to yell and scream and even take imaginary animosity. These people don’t know how dangerous it is.”
He added, “Films like Gadar 2 and The Kerala Story becoming hit is surprising and films made by Sudhir Mishra, Anubhav Sinha, Hansal Mehta are not watched by anyone.”
‘Man Woman Man Woman’ is the second film directed by Naseeruddin Shah. Earlier he had directed Irrfan Khan starrer ‘U Hota To Kya Hota’.
