Unprecedented Security arrangements have been made throughout Jammu Kashmir ahead of 72nd independence day to be celebrated on 15 August tomorrow.
Massive Security arrangements have been put in place as Militant activity and recruitment in Kashmir continues to rise at a drastic pace.
Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that CCTV and bulletproof convoys have been deployed especially across Southern Kashmir where the security situation overall has worsened since 2016, when Militant commander Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter with Government troops.
in Shopian barricades have been placed at various places and frisking has risen to ‘avert any untoward incident.’
Many Youth from Shopian and Pulwama have complained that their Mobile Phones have been checked and later snatched by Government Forces.
“They told us to take back the phones from the nearby camp,” a youth from Pulwama who wished to be not named told The Kashmiriyat.
In most of the Villages of Shopian District,the Government Forces have sanitized the areas and parts of a road leading to the main towns have been completely sealed and made out of bounds for civilian movement.
Officials said that there are inputs that militants may attempt to carry out gun and grenade attacks on Government forces camps or I-Day venues during the day to make their presence felt.
In Pulwama too, the Government Force personnel have been put on high alert and security around the major government installations and security camps have been beefed up.
In Kulgam and Islamabad (Anantnag) Districts, The police and CRPF men have set up temporary checkpoints and vehicles passing through these checkpoints are being thoroughly searched. The cops have also intensified patrolling.
In Srinagar, Sharpshooters armed with automatic weapons and hi-tech gadgets have been deployed at the venue of independence Day celebrations and in some high rise buildings adjacent to the cricket stadium.
In North Kashmir, Strict restrictions have been put in place in view of Independence day celebrations.
Meanwhile authorities have decided to suspend the train services for tomorrow.
