Famous Urdu poet Munawwar Rana on Tuesday expressed his displeasure over the exclusion of his name on the voter list.
Upon being asked if his name was excluded for being a critic of the BJP government, Munawwar said that the Government is too arrogant to even pay any attention to criticism. “First we were ousted from citizenship, then called outsiders in our own country, and eventually we will be thrown out of the world,” Munawwar said.
“Till they do not see the face of defeat, they will not listen to anyone,” he said.
He said that the elections are not being held on issues that people face. “The country’s largest party is conducting elections in the name of religion and theology,” he said.
On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has complained of EVM malfunctioning in Banda.
In its complaint, the SP has said that the EVM at booth number 191, 189, 141, 261, 263, 242, 322, 171, 174 of Naraini Assembly-234 of Banda district is inadequate, due to which the polling work is hampered.
