Veteran Journalist, Qasim Sajad, a resident of Anantnag passed away after a brief spell of illness at his ancestral house on Monday.
The deceased was well versed with Urdu Language and is on record to have contributed a lot to Urdu Journalism in Jammu Kashmir. He was not only a prolific Writer but a fire-brand Speaker too.
He was the editor of a prominent newspaper in the early 90s and has authored several books.
He was an active Executive Member of Jammu Kashmir Press Association (JKPA) and was part of many delegations of the Association.
The JKPA on Monday held an executive meeting on Monday where the members prayed for the departed soul and expressed solidarity with all members of the bereaved family.
M Y Tarigami Expresses Condolences
Meanwhile, CPI (M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed grief and shock over the demise of journalist Qasim Sajad who passed away today after a brief illness.
“I remained associated with him during my early college days when he was running a book shop”. He was a veteran journalist, social worker and household name in Anantnag area. Visited him recently, though being bed ridden, we talked to each other. It is sad that we have lost a dear friend and a good human being.
