Village Diary: Nagawadi Residents Rue Lack of Basic Facilities, Demand Attention of Higher Ups

The residents of Nagawadi area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday rued lack of basic amenities in the area and demanded attention of higher ups on the matter.

Locals from the area said that there is shortage of drinking water, unscheduled power supply and dilapidated roads in the area.

They said that there is no ration store in the area due for which they are forced to walk several kilometres to bring the ration.

Locals said that they have repeatedly brought these issues in notice of higher ups but on ground nothing has been done.

Nawaz Ahmad, a local resident said that politicians often come here during election campaigns and get votes, however, when they get elected, they never visit the area.

He said that this village has been neglected on all developmental fronts

“Even in 2Ist century they are facing acute shortage of drinking water and are forced to drink contaminated water,” locals said.

Meanwhile, officials said that the work on roads is going on while the work on the water supply scheme will start soon—(KNO)
