A Famous volleyball player from South Kashmir, Showkat Ahmad Dar famous with the name Jassy passed away due to a cardiac arrest on Sunday during a volleyball match against Punjab team at Harnag area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (anantnag) District.
Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that he scored three brilliant points winning the set for Jammu Kashmir before he collapsed on the ground. “Showkat was celebrating the vitory when he collapsed down,” Eyewitnesses said.
He was immediately rushed to the District Hospital of Islamabad (Anantnag), but he died on the way to the hospital, Sources said.
Showkat had played in National tournaments for four times and was the shining star of volleyballl in Jammu Kashmir, his friends told The Kashmiriyat.
Showkat, 20 who was a resident of Bogund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District is survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Meanwhile, the Volleyball Association of Jammu Kashmir has expressed grief over his sudden death.
