The Government forces on Thursday claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from Dulanja area of Uri along Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The commanding officer of 8 Rashtriya Rifles addressing a press conference at Uri brigade unit told the reporters “the security forces had been receiving regular inputs regarding the delivery of a weapon consignment in areas along the Line of control which is likely to be used for likely to be used in the hinterland.”
Responding to the inputs various search operations were laid along with areas astride Jhelum River in Uri.
“On September 9, a credible input was received from Jammu Kashmir Police regarding the presence of a cache of small arms in general Area Dulanja,” the officer said.
During the searches the forces recovered War-like stores in the general area cutting on September 10 at 0525 hours, the official said.
The arms and ammunition recovered during the searches include two M16 Rifles (Pak Origin), two Pistols (Pak Origin), four Magazines (M16 Rifle), and four Magazines (Pistols), the officer maintained.
