Waste Debris of Damaged Structures Irks Shopkeepers in Pulwama Town

In a demolition drive by Municipal Committee Pulwama, few bridges and ladders were demolished a few days before, the waste debris lying scattered which is irking shopkeepers, customers and pedestrians in Pulwama town.

Shopkeepers told that the demolition drive was started over a dispute between shopkeepers and one complex owner. As the complex owners tried to erect new stairs, the shopkeepers around started objecting to the owner.

They said that after the demolition drive was started by Municipal Committee Pulwama, the foot bridges along with new stairs were demolished.

“The shopkeepers alleged that the district administration has not lifted the debris of demolished foot bridges and newly erected stairs from the spot.”

Jahangeer Ahmad, a shopkeeper said the foot bridges were constructed before a decade for the utility of common people and not for any personal use for any individual.

They requested the administration to look into the matter and construct footbridges meant for the public and don’t allow anyone to raise anything for personal means.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Baseer Ul Haq said that waste debris will be lifted from the spot within a couple of days.

“No illegal construction is being allowed anywhere in Pulwama district and structures are allowed  to construct as per law,” he said.

He said that whatever will be the demand of the general public it will be looked into and allowed to be constructed after taking care of all parameters. “Wherever need arises, I will personally visit the spot and take any decision as per law,” the DC Pulwama said—(KNO)
