Water crisis triggers protest in Beighpora, Anantnag

The residents of the Beighpora in the Brari Angan area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district staged a protest against the Water Department over the issue of non-availability of drinking water in the area.

A group of residents assembled and staged a protest against the concerned PHE Department, demanding safe drinking water to the area.

The Inhabitants speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that they are demanding clean drinking water for their survival as the area is facing an acute shortage of drinking water facilities since last year, adding that the department was forcing them to consume filthy water.

One of the ladies among protesters said that they approached the concerned officials many times but nothing has been done in this regard. “We are being forced to consume contaminated water, which has affected our health,” she told The Kashmiriyat.

Meanwhile, the protesters appealed to higher authorities to look into the matter at the earliest.
