With no rains in October so far, and below normal rainfall in September, water level is going down drastically day by day in all the water bodies of Kashmir.
As per Kashmir’s Irrigation and Flood Control (IFC) department, the water level at Sangam was minus(-)0.10 feet.
The water level at Ram Munshi Bagh, Srinagar was 2.19 feet while at Asham it was 1.48 feet.
Kashmir Weather, independent weather forecaster, said that the dry spell is likely to continue for another 7 days but there are chances of light rain at a few isolated places.
He said that in June 47 mm, in July 9.7 mm, in August 123.9 mm, in September 11.5 mm and in October 0mm (so far), rainfall was recorded in Srinagar.
This is not for the first time that Srinagar has recorded 0mm rainfall in October. Like this year, in 2017, 2007, 2000, 1999 and 1984 too, Srinagar received 0mm rainfall.
Jammu Kashmir received 376.2 mm rainfall from June 1 to September 30, as against the normal average of 566 mm for the same period.(Kashmir Weather)
