Water scarcity irk Kamahpora residents

Inhabitants of Kamahpora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district are up in arms against the Jal Shakti department for ‘failing’ to provide adequate water supply to the residents.

Talking to media men, the residents as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) accused the department of ignoring their plights, saying that the womenfolk from the area are being forced to walk miles to fetch water from faraway places for daily use.

They said that the area has been facing immense hardships due to the water crisis and they are being forced to consume contaminated water as nobody is paying heed to their sufferings.

“We approached the authorities many times in this regard but they always dejected us,” the residents said.

The protesters later appealed to the district administration and concerned department to look into the matter and to provide the filtered water to them so that they could have a sigh of relief—(KNO)
