‘We all believe they were misled’: JDU Kashmir unit demands amnesty for stone throwing protestors

Janta Dal United president Jammu Kashmir, GM Shaheen has demanded an amnesty for stone-throwing protesters from the Kashmir valley.

Several youth from downtown Srinagar joined the party in presence of the party command here on Thursday in Kashmir’s capital city.

“Everyone admits that the stone throwers were misled. They have been misused by past officials and governments, and their careers have been wasted in court hearings. We demand that these cases must be revoked as they are in the mainstream and are working towards the progress of the country in various fields,” Shaheen, who is the leader of NDA-partner JDU said.

He said that the past officials have earned a great deal of sum while lodging FIRs against the youth of Kashmir on the behest of the previous regimes. “I have also submitted a memorandum during the cabinet meeting seeking an amnesty to the youth of Kashmir who have been accused of stone throwing,” Shaheen told the press.

Shaheen said that the JDU unit from Jammu Kashmir ahead of the coalition in Delhi with BJP put forth the demand of withdrawing the FIRs against stone throwers as we believe that the youth were misled.
