After remaining closed for two consecutive weeks, the mandatory Friday congregational prayers were today allowed at historic Jamia Masjid here while as Jamia Masjid’s head cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq delivered sermon on the occasion.
Mirwaiz, who is also chief of Hurriyat Conference (M) asked whether seeking peaceful resolution of Kashmir is terrorism.
He said they will continue to seek peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute and that New Delhi can’t intimidate them. “Since 1947 conspiracies were hatched against the people, the leadership and the pulpit of Jamia Masjid. But Kashmir struggle continued despite massive assaults by Delhi,” he added.
Reacting apparently to National Investigation Agency (NIA) that summoned him to Delhi twice so far, Mirwaiz said, “We are not going to bow down and Delhi can’t force us into submission by intimidating us.”
