Unknown gunmen shot dead a 40 year old woman in Drabgam village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district in Friday afternoon. Identified as Shameema wife of Ali Mohammed Bhat was shot at her parental home at Drabgam village.
Family members told The Kashmiriyat she came to Drabgam today morning and in afternoon some gunmen barged into house of her brother and fired upon her. Later they tried to shift her to hospital however she succumbed on the way.
Her dead body was later shifted to Koil village of Pulwama district where she was laid to rest. Shahmeema is survived by husband, a son and a daughter.
Her relatives, neighbours and the entire village is in mourning. The father is trying to console the duaghter, but to no avail. “Why was our mother killed,” she shouted.
Pertinently the two houses that were damaged during the encounter on April 30 this year in which Sameer Bhat alias tiger along with his associate was killed belong to the two brothers of slain women.
One civilian was also killed during clashes there.
A senior official told The Kashmiriyat that that preliminary investigations suggest that militants are involved in the incident. A case under relevant sections of law has been initiated, he said.
