Jammu Kashmir has been recording a constant spike in the covid 19 cases from the past couple of weeks and amid this surge two cases of oxygen, shortage has been reported by media outlets. Though the administration has refuted the reports and said it is all ready and has adequate resources to deal with any situation.
On Saturday, After four patients died in the hospital early morning, the ASCOMS Batra in Jammu complaining of growing oxygen shortage said that it will have to shut down its operations as there is an acute shortage of oxygen one of the biggest hospitals in Jammu Kashmir.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the attendant of a patient said that a massive crisis is emerging in one of the premier hospitals in Jammu Kashmir. Among those who died was Irshad Hammal, the former vice-chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Budshah Univerity.
The attendant said that the condition in the hospital is getting worse with every passing hour. “They are really working hard, but the hospital is not getting any oxygen supply,” the attendant said.
At least 73 covid patients are admitted to the hospital, out of whom 53 are on oxygen support, as per the Hospital sources.
Complaining of the growing oxygen shortage they said that a ward designated to the covid patients has several people in it, and all of them gasping for breath. “They are crying for oxygen, but the hospital does not have it, we did not expect this to happen in Jammu Kashmir.”
The attendant said that the condition is deteriorating and we want the oxygen supply to reach the hospital in Jammu so that some lives can be saved.
Meanwhile, the principal ASCOMS Batra said that “We will have to shut the hospital if the oxygen supply does not reach the hospital soon.” He said that the hospital requires around 350 oxygen cylinders.
Update
Soon after the development, the administartion has sent 60 cylinders to the hospital. The hospital says it needs at least 350 cylinders and the current supply will not run for more than 4 hours.
