‘Yahan kaun si Azadi hai, sab dhong hai’- Apni Party stages protest in Srinagar against Delimitation Proposal

The Supremo of Apni Party Jammu Kashmir, Altaf Bukhari led a protest on Wednesday against the delimitation proposal in Srinagar terming the delimitation proposal unacceptable to the people of Jammu Kashmir.

Apni Party in its memorandum stated that the party had earlier welcomed the Delimitation Commission and even interacted with their delegation while suggesting certain requisite changes.

“We believed that the process would be factual and transparent, however, the recent proposed report is visibly disproportionate and encourages doubts of favoritism towards a specific political party,” the memorandum reads.

Altaf Bukhari said that people of Jammu Kashmir are being stabbed in the back in the name of ‘real estate’ policy and the Government is trying to make ‘backdoor entries’ on non-domiciles into Jammu Kashmir through the policy.

The party also urged the Central Government to intervene in this matter that poses a threat to the integrity and soul of our constitution. “The Real Estate Summit held in Jammu undermines the Domicile Law that has been introduced to safeguard the rights of the natives,” he said.

It reads that Apni Party is resolute in its demand that these decisions fall specifically under the domain of an elected government while the current administration must focus on safeguarding the rights of the people, curbing spiking unemployment rates and inflation in the Union Territory.

It also reads that moreover, Apni Party demands that the Government should desist from censoring the media in Jammu and Kashmir and should encourage the constructive criticism that is essential for bolstering democratic values.

Addressing the press he ridiculed the narrative of ‘freedom’ being promoted by the Government saying, “yahan kaun si azadi hai, yeh sab dhong hai.” (There is no freedom here, it is all lies and drama.)

Bukhari, responding to the Police probe on Hyderpora “encounter” said that the party does not accept the probe conducted by police, saying that the killers should be brought to book.

“Who is police to give clean chit in Hyderpora incident. Judicial probe has to be conducted in this regard and the killers will be identified,” he said.
