
A youth from Pulwama was arrested by Police for promoting “anti-national” content on social media.
Police in a statement said that Police Station Litter arrested a man for running a social media account with the name “Pulwama News” wherein he posted videos and pictures of militants killed in the Kokernag encounter.
“This account was created to promote the activities of the militants and spread fear among the general public, which posed a severe threat to the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country,” Police said.
The accused has been identified as Ashiq Ahmed Khan son of Bashir Ahmed Khan, a resident of Niloora in Pulwama.
FIR vide the number 98/2023 has been registered at Police Station in Litter Pulwama under the relevant sections of law, Police said.
