23-year-old Kashmiri driver dies of cardiac arrest, body stuck as hospital denies ambulance for over 20 hours

On Monday a Kashmiri driver on the way to Jammu died of cardiac arrest at Tikri area of Udhampur on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, a driver accompanying the deceased said that Adil Rashid Wani, son of Abdul Rashid Wani suffered a  heart attack at Ramban.

He said that Adil was rushed to the nearby Udhampur hospital, however, he succumbed on the way.

Rashid, who was 23 years old and was a resident of Kujjer area of Ganderbal district of central Kashmir was stuck at the hospital since 2 PM yesterday as the hospital official refused to provide an ambulance to carry his dead body, the driver said.

“Even though the drivers agreed to pay the charges including the fuel expenses for the ambulance for both the sides, the officials did not provide the ambulance,” the drive told The Kashmiriyat.

The driver said that they had hired a private ambulance service to carry the dead body to his home in central Kashmir.
