‘Casualities unknown’: US-British airstrikes rattle war-torn Yemen

At dawn on Friday, the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and various provinces faced air strikes in what is described as US-British aggression.

Yemeni media reports raids on Sanaa, Hodeidah, Saada, and Dhamar, including strikes on al-Dailami air base, however, the number of casualities during these attacks continues to remain unknown.

The coalition of anti-aggression political parties condemned this action, linking it to over eight years of ongoing aggression. “This is a part of the same design under which the Zionist-Americans have been conducting aggression against Palestinians,” Yemen state media reported quoting officials.

The US and UK justified the strikes, stating they targeted Houthi-linked sites. President Biden emphasized these actions send a clear message against attacks on personnel and threats to freedom of navigation.

The UK Ministry of Defense claimed early signs suggest a blow to the Houthis’ ability to threaten merchant shipping.

It’s crucial to note the toll on Yemen’s population, with tens of thousands killed by the Saudi-led coalition since 2014.

The blockade of essential humanitarian aid exacerbates the crisis, leaving millions of children starving in the war-torn country.
