From One of the Richest Families, Known for his Bike Riding, Shakeel Laid to Rest in Shopian

Amid high pitch, pro independence and Anti India Sloganeering, Shakeel Ahmed Dar was laid to rest in Chillipora area of Sugan in South Kashmir’s Shopian District.

Eyewitnesses informed The Kashmiriyat that women and men in large numbers reached Chillipora to participate in the funeral of slain Shakeel who had joined Militancy in the month of May, last year.

They said that people from as far as Islamabad (Anantnag) district participated in the funeral of slain Militant, Shakeel which is a few minutes away from Sugan, where the funeral of Zeenat ul Islam was being offered.

Shakeel Ahmed Dar, a resident of Chillipora in South Kashmir’s Shopian District is likely the second Militant killed with Al Badr chief, Zeenat ul Islam in the encounter in Kulgam’s Yaripora on Saturday evening.



Shakeel Ahmad dar son of Ab Rashid Dar resident of Chillipora sugan area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district has joined Militancy in July 2018 and was a Bsc student at Government Degree college in Pulwama.

A known cricket lover and best wicket keeper batsman of the area, known for his long hair and driving bicycles with high speed likely the second Militant killed.

Shakeel pursuing BSc at government degree college Pulwama left home on Wednesday evening without informing us about his plan, said his family member. He told The Kashmiriyat that after failing to trace him, they filed missing report at Police station Zainapora.

However a few days later, the family was informed that Shakeel has joined ranks as his picture while holding Ak 47 has went viral on social media. Shakeel is youngest among five brothers and a sister.

Saifullah Dar, a close friend of shakeel told The Kashmiriyat that Shakeel was cricket lover and was best wicket keeper batsman of the area. He was known for his long hair and driving two wheelers with high speed however from last two years he changed completely and started following Islamic principles strictly, Dar added.



Shakeel belongs to one of the most richest family of the area and was never arrested before, his friend told The Kashmiriyat adding that Shakeel  is a distant cousin of active Hizb commander Aabid Manzoor Magray @Sajju Tiger resident of Nowpora Payeen Pulwama.

Meanwhile Government Forces resorted to firing on the mourners who had gathered for the funeral of Slain Zeenat ul Islam at Dragad area of Shopian’s Sugan. “At least seven sustained injuries,” hospital sources informed The Kashmiriyat.

A young girl was also hit by a cassipir vehicle of Indian Army in Sugan during the clashes.

Train services have been suspended across Southern Kashmir as a precautionary measure.

A complete shutdown is being observed in most of the areas of South Kashmir to mourn the killings of two Militants.

Mobile internet services had also been suspended in Shopian and Kulgam districts posts the gunfight that raged on Saturday evening.
