Militants killed in Bijbehara ‘chance’ encounter belonged to Waghama, had gone missing recently

On Wednesday, the J-K Police said that two local militants of outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind were killed in a ‘chance’ Encounter in Tajiwara in Bijbhera area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

While quoting ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, The Kashmir Police Zone in a tweet wrote, ”Killed militants identified as Fayaz Kumar & Owais Khan linked with militant outfit AGuH.”

Pertinently, The Kashmiriyat had reported that Fayaz Ahmed Kumar (24), son of Mohammed Ramzan Kumar, a resident of Anantnag’s Waghama area had gone missing on August 25.

“He left home for his shop around 11 AM and we contacted him around 1:30 pm in the afternoon but he has not returned yet,” his family member had told The Kashmiriyat. They said that they had been trying to trace Fayaz, but to no avail.

Meanwhile, a few days ago The Kashmiriyat had reported that a 20-year-old nursing student Owais Ahmad, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan resident of Waghama Bijbehara has been missing since 3 September.

“On 31st August he said that he has been transferred to Islamabad, till 2nd Sep we were in contact with him but from 3rd September his phone was off, we searched him everywhere,” Owais’s brother had told The Kashmiriyat.

The family had filed a missing report at the Bijbehara Police Station.

“They were involved in several militant attacks including attack on police personnel in Cheeniwooder Srigufwara on 03-07-2022 in which 01 police personnel Firdous Dar got seriously injured and Darashikoh park Bijbehara on 12-08-2022 in which one police personnel Gh Qadir got seriously injured. Besides involved in grenade lobbing at Padshahibagh on 15-06-2022,” said the police.
