Residential house collapses in Boniyar, Inmates rescued

A residential house collapsed in Uri subdistrict of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday afternoon, a residential house collapsed in the Bujthalan Boniyar area of north Kashmir area burying alive the inmates.

They said that the inmates were rescued by the teams of Jammu Kashmir Police and the admin, who immediately rushed to the spot.

“So far, seven persons have been rescued, one of whom had suffered injuries,” the official said.

He said that the rescue operation is still underway.

Pertinently, rains and snow have lashed the Kashmir valley causing several landslides and flashfloods.

Rivers across the valley are witnessing a rise in the water levels. Jhelum is swelling in its size as it’s tributaries continue to witness a surge in water levels.

The Meteorological Department in Kashmir valley has asked people to exercise caution and stay away from water bodies as rainfall is expected to continue for the next several hours.
