Second major forest fire breaks out in Kulgam: Gudder Laisoo forest in flames

Less than an hour after a forest fire raged in Qazigund belt, another massive forest fire erupted in the Kulgam district on Saturday afternoon.

Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that the forest range in Gudder Laisoo area of Damhal belt in Kulgam district of south Kashmir has caught fire.

Eyewitnesses said that massive smoke has engulfed the forest range, triggering panic among the nearby residents.

The Forest Department personnel and Fire and Emergency services have rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control.

Jammu Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) , earlier this week, issued a warning, indicating an extreme forest fire risk over the next seven days.

The maximum temperature in Srinagar on Thursday soared to 32.2 degrees Celsius, the same as on May 25, 2013. On May 20, 2011.. As per officials, Kashmir has recorded the hottest May day in 13 years.
