Ulfat Bashir

The street vendors in Sopore staged a protest for the second consecutive day against the administration, for failing to rehabilitate them.

As per the reports, the vendors protested and raised slogans against the administration and Municipal Council, Sopore.

Street vendors ran their stalls outside Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sopore. The ADC Sopore, however, has stopped them from setting up stalls at the location.

Street vendors blocked the main road outside the ADC office demanding a specified place for installation of stalls.

They demanded permission to set up their stalls along roadsides or that they be provided a suitable place to carry out their businesses.

“We have no place for installation of stalls now and families of more than sixty vendors will be left to starve, as the bread earners of those families earn bucks for livelihood from these stalls alone,” a street vendor said.

The street vendors also appealed to thr Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the district administration to look into their sufferings and redress their genuine demands at the earliest.
