As many as one hundred political activists, workers and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of militants will face detained under preventive measures or under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in the coming days, as per a report published by Daily Excelsior.
The Excelsior reported that the never arrest spree is being conducted by the local administration to prevent the “breach of peace”.
Pertinently, various leaders of the People’s Democratic Party including Nayeem Akhtar, Peer Mansoor and Sartaj Madani have been detained earlier this week.
National Conference leaders including Hilal Ahmad Lone son of Member Parliament and NC leader Mohammad Akbar Lone has also been arrested from Naidkhai area of Bandipora district.
The report quoted a senior official as having said that these leaders are under preventive detention under Section 107/151 of the CrPC.
The Forces have also detained ten separatist leaders including Shakeel Bakshi, Ghulam Ahmad Dar alias Gulzar of Pattan, Bashir Ahmad Mir alias Molvi of Bandipora, Mohammad Amin Bhat of Poshkar in district Budgam, Imtiyaz Ahmad Taploo of Anchar in Soura area of Srinagar, Sajjad Ahmad Malla of Anchar in Soura area of Srinagar, Asif Latief Kandoo of Anchar in Soura area of Srinagar, Wajid Fayaz Sofi of Inderhama Srinagar, Nayeem Ahmad Hajam of New Theed Harwan in district Srinagar and Javed Ahmad Mir of Zainakadal Srinagar.
They all have been detained under preventive measures. The report quoted sources as saying that, “There may be more arrests in the coming days and some of whom may be booked under PSA.”
The National Conference on Saturday condemned the arrest spree of mainstream political leaders in Kashmir.
