1000 kg of Poppy Straw Recovered in Sonamarg

The special team of Anti Narcotics Task Force assisted by Jammu Kashmir Police has made a successful chase and recovered more than 800 kgs of poppy straw from Ladakh bound trucks in Sonamarg.

Upon receiving information, a team of ANTF was constituted which rushed towards Sonmarg, and with the help of District Police Ganderbal, the team intercepted two trucks bearing registration no.s – PB 07-AL 2229, and HP 55B- 0711.

Upon search of these vehicles 800 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered.

In further investigation, it came to the fore that one vehicle carrying poppy straw had already left for Leh.

This 3rd vehicle was intercepted near Leh and poppy straw like substance weighing in quintals was recovered.

An official said that a total of 1000 kgs of Poppy Straw has been recovered, which is one of the biggest catch in recent past.

Meanwhile, further investigation in this regard has been taken up that may lead to further recoveries.
