LG Visits Injured Airlifted To GMC Jammu, Announces Rs 3 Lakh Relief To NoKs Of Dead
Eleven persons were killed and fourteen others injured when a minibus they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge in Doda district on Thursday, officials said.
They said that the minibus broke into pieces as it rolled down the mountainous slopes into the gorge near Sui Gowari area, leading to on the spot death of eight persons and injuries to several others. Later three others succumbed to their injuries, they said.
The bus was on way to Thathri from Doda when it met with an accident. A police official confirmed to GNS that eleven persons died and fourteen others are injured.
The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Hussain Shah (60) son of Maqbool Shah of Bharote, Rajsesh Kumar (24) son of Budhi Singh of Purnot, Shabir Ahmad (30) son of Ghulam Hussain of Bharote Mohalla, Rhitik Sharma (19) son of Lekhi Raj of Jatheli, Santosh Kumar, son of Som Nath (22) of Bhawna Kanthi Mohalla, Jamal Din (23) son of Lal Din of Bakhana Mohalla, Mohammad Latief (65) son of Mohammad Ramzan of Bohrawa Mohalla, Anari Devi (55) wife of Lt Swami Raj of Sisol Barshalla Thatri, Bahadur Singh (65) son of Hari Singh of Shirdani Bhella, Kamal Singh (40) son of Dharam Singh of Paryote and Gori Devi (65) wife of Bid Lal of Tantana.
The injured admitted at GMC Doda include Naveed Akhter son of Thalela, Sanjay son of Santosh Kumar of Panaja, Neetu Devi daughter of Lakshmn Singh of Korara, Vikram Singh son of Gulab Chand of Halwana, Ashok Sharma son of Vidya Lal of Mandrana, Mukesh Kumar son of Sugrev Sharma of Kareli Mohalla, Arif Hussain son of Mohd Musa of Kahra and Saveeta Devi wife of Ramesh Kumar of Dhal Mohalla.
Seven of the injured who were shifted to GMC Jammu by chopper include Babar Hussain son of Alla Datta of Thalela, Rohit son of Sugrev Sharma of Malwana, Santosha Devi wife of Gurdev Singh of Premnagar, Poonam Devi daughter of Balwant Singh of Premnagar, Ramesh Kumar son of Hem Raj of Thathri, Monika Devi daughter of Bansal Lal of Panthan Premnagar and Parvex Ahmad son of Khurshid Ahmad of Arif Mohalla Thathri.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha visited Government Medical College Jammu here to enquire about the well-being of patients injured in Doda road accident who were airlifted immediately to GMC Jammu, on the directions of the Lt Governor.
The Lt Governor gave explicit directions to doctors at GMC to ensure best possible medical care of the injured for their early recovery.
The Lt Governor had been monitoring the situation personally and had directed the district administration to provide all necessary assistance to the families who have lost their loved ones and all those who were injured in the road accident.
Earlier, the Lt Governor announced Rs 3 Lakh compensation for the NoKs of every deceased, Rs 2 Lakh from LG’s discretionary fund and Rs 1 Lakh from Road victim fund as immediate relief.
The Lt Governor also held discussion with Principal GMC Jammu, Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma among other senior officers. (GNS)
