133 Militants Killed in Kashmir this Year; 38 Foreigners Active in Kashmir

The government forces have said that as many as 38 non-local Militants who hail from Pakistan are currently active in Jammu Kashmir.

Out of the 38 foreign Militants, 27 are from the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) while 11 are affiliated with Jaish e Muhammad.

These foreign Militants are spread throughout Jammu Kashmir, and hiding in cities as well the forest area.

A few of them have been located in the Srinagar, Baramulla, Kulgam and Pulwama and other parts of the Valley.

The ‘Special Group’, that was constituted in the aftermath of the civilian killings in the valley have been trying to find the exact locations for pinpointed operations, the officials in the security grid said, adding that they have been provided help from the over ground workers, Times now reported on Saturday.

They also said that the identifications become possible because of the specialised group of central police agencies and which have now synergy with other stakeholders such the Indian Army and the Jammu Kashmir Police’s Special Operation Group (SOG).

133 Militants Killed this Year so Far

Meanwhile the inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar on Friday said that 133 Militants including top commanders have been killed so far this year.

Vijay Kumar, the IG of Jammu Kashmir Police said that the militant killed in Bemina encounter was assigned to carry out a fidayeen attack.

He congratulated the joint teams of Government Forces for carrying out successful operations in Kulgam and Srinagar resulting in elimination of three militants including a most-wanted militant commander.
