On Wednesday, authorities apprehended Mohammad Bashir Chowdhary, a resident of Panglar village in Khawas Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, on charges of allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged at the Police Post Teryath, revealing distressing details of the young girl being subjected to sexual abuse by her own father.
The accused is currently facing legal charges under FIR No. 08/2024, charged with sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with sections 4/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The local police, having taken cognizance of the matter, promptly initiated proceedings to address the heinous crime.
