19-year-old Srinagar Youth Drowns in Ganderbal River ‘While taking a Selfie’

A teenager from Srinagar drowned in River Sindh in the Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir, but his body is yet to be retrieved.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday evening Salim Khan (19) of 90-feet road Pandach Srinagar drowned in the Sindh river near the Rayil area of Kangan Ganderbal.

As per reports, the youth fell down into the river while taking a selfie. He was on his way to Sonamarg for a picnic along with his friends on Monday.

As soon as the Police received information about the incident a massive rescue operation was launched by Gund Police along with locals and his relatives, however, no clue has been found to retrieve the body.

Massive searches have been launched to trace his body. “The searches are still underway,” the official said.
