Another Educated Shopian Youth Joins Al Badr

July 23 A youth from Malikgund area of South Kashmir's Shopian has joined Militant outfit Al Badr Mujahideen, making him the 5th youth from South Kashmir to join the Militant outfit. Locals from the Malikgund area told The Kashmiriyat that the joining of Sheikh Waqar has left the whole area in shock as he was very helping in nature and has no other brothers, only three sisters. Waqar Ahmed Sheikh son of Mohammed Aslam Sheikh has released his photograph with an AK 47 announcing his entry to the outfit. He was a lab technician and is a B.Sc graduate but he suddenly went missing from his home on last Wednesday after which his family started looking for him everywhere, but to not avail, a Local told The Kashmiriyat.

Militants Attack House of BJP Leader in Pulwama

July 22 Militants on Sunday night fired at the house of BJP leader Gulzar Ahmed Nengroo in prichoo area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Militants fired a few shots at the Police post guarding the house of the BJP leader in Pulwama area. However the alert guard fired a few shots in the air and retaliated the attack, Militants later escaped from the spot. As per initial reports, nobody has been injured in the attack.

Intense Stone Pelting Clashes in Dialgam- Locals Accuse Forces of Vandalization

July 22 Massive Clashes erupted in Dialgam area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District on Sunday after the killing of three Militants in Khudwani encounter in Kulgam. Sources told The Kashmriyat that youth in large numbers hit the streets and threw stones on vehicles of Government Forces who retaliated with intense tear smoke shelling. Locals speaking to The kashmiriyat alleged that the Government forces barged into many households and vandalised civilian property. "They also assaulted a few youth," a local from Dialgam said.

Umar Rashid of Khudwani not Among Killed Militants

July 22 Umar Rashid Wani of Khudwani Kulgam who joined Militancy on 22 May this year is not among the Militants killed at Khudwani Encounter site on Sunday. Police sources confirmed to The Kashmiriyat that Suhail Ahmed of Hawoora Kulgam, Mudasir Ahmed of Sholipora Kulgam and Abu Muawiya, a foreign Militant were killed in the gunfight. Groups of media have been wrongly displaying the photos of Umar being one of the slain Militants, however Police clarified that he has not been killed. Massive CASO Starts in Shopian Area

July  22 A Cordon and Search operation has been launched at Mantribugh area of South Kashmir's Shopian District on Sunday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 34 RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir police jointly launched the cordon and search operation in the locality. Sopore Teenager dies in Scuffle with Classmates

July 22 A teen died in a Srinagar hospital on Sunday a day after being injured in a scuffle between the class mates at Sopore area in North Kashmir. Police said that preliminary investigations reveal that the mishap occurred due to a scuffle between the classmates that led to the tragic killing of the boy identified as Zeeshan Banday of Naseem Bagh Sopore. SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal has told KNS that the boys have been identified and are being questioned.

Militants offer Gun salute to their colleague in Kulgam

July 22 Militants on Sunday offered Gun Salute to slain Suhail Ahmed at Hawoora Kulgam who was killed in an Encounter that erupted in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. They said that a group of 2-3 Militants appeared on the stage where Suhail's corpse lay and fired in the air as a mark of respect to their slain colleague. Meanwhile thousands of people have gathered in Hawoora area of Kulgam to attend the funeral of Suhail Ahmed. Suhail was killed in a gunfight with two colleagues at nearby wani Mohallah in Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district early morning on Sunday. 

127 Militancy Related Incidents in Past Two months

July 22 127 Militancy related incidents have been reported from Jammu Kashmir during the past two months as per a data compiled by Home Ministry of India starting May 16. The Data reveals that Militancy related incidents had gone up to 80 during the month of Ramadan when Indian Government had declared a unilateral ceasefire from May 16 to June 16 while 47 incidents have been recorded from June 16 to July 16. It further claimed that 14 Militant were and five Government Forces' personnel were killed during the Governor's rule as compared to 24 Militants and 10 troopers during the suspension of operations. Since the imposition of Governor's Rule on June 20, 95 cases of stone throwing have been reported while during the previous one month of ceasefire, 90 incidents were reported. ...

Militants Killed in Khudwani Identified

July 22 Three Militants killed in the encounter at Khudwani early morning on Saturday have been identified as affiliates of Lashkar e Taiba. Two of them who are locals have been identified as Suhail Ahmed of Hawoora Kulgam, Mudasir Ahmed of Sholipora Kulgam while the third one has been identified as Abu Muwaiya, a foreign Militant. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the three were trapped in a house in the Khudwani area of South Kashmir after the Forces laid a cordon and siege operation around the Wani Mohallah locality in Khudwani. Thousands of people have gathered in the localities, however their bodies have not been handed over to the families as of yet.
