September 07 Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said the government will soon frame and implement a drone policy and go for a technological upgradation to monitor militant activities, specially in Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat and Assam. September 09 The Jammu Kashmir police arrested Thursday two truckers and seized a total of 42 kgs of poppy from them, foiling two separate bids to smuggle the narcotics to Punjab from the state. The arrests were made from Kathua and Ramban districts, a police official said. The first truck was intercepted at Banihal in Ramban district with 25 kgs of poppy, following which its driver Gurvinder Singh was arrested and a case was registered under the NDPS Act against him, the official said. 4 Drug Peddlers Arrested by Jammu Kashmir Police

September 06 Four suspected drug peddlers were arrested in Kathua and Rajouri districts of Jammu Kashmir on Thursday, police said. Acting on a tip-off, three persons were intercepted in Raj Bagh area of Kathua district and 14 grams of heroin was recovered, a Police official said. Another man, Dushyant Singh, was arrested at Tarpai bridge on the Rajouri-Thanamandi road after 15 grams of heroin was allegedly recovered from him during a search, they said. Cases have been registered in both the incidents.

Kashmir Looses 1000 people to Accidents every Year, Highest in India

September 06 While the government is maintaining that it is trying to make roads safe, every year around 1000 people die in road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir. The state has also topped the list of “high accidental death-prone areas” in a National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) survey. The survey has found that an accident in Jammu Kashmir State has a 64 percent chance of causing death as opposed to 36.4 percent for all of India. Data also show that more than half of those killed in road accidents were in the productive age group of 15 to 34, pointing to a calamitous loss of young lives. Youth Goes Missing from his home in Tral

September 06 The Family of a youth from South Kashmir’s Tral town who has gone missing from September 3 has sought help of general public in tracing him. The missing youth identified as Tahir Ahmed Khan son of Ali Muhammad Khan, a resident of Chandrigam Tral according to family was working in a private hotel in Srinagar. “He left home on September 3 and since then is untraceable,” said his family and appealed general public to inform them or police station Awantipora in case they locate him.
